First & Second Grade Classes
This week I introduced students to keyboarding! Some were familiar with the home row while others were embarking on a brand new adventure! I encouraged students to use the keyboarding website at home and wanted to give you the link here. You can also look to the right of the blog and under the heading "Keyboarding Websites" your student has access to a number of different fun typing websites. The one we used and will continue to use at Ide is Dance Mat Typing. Select Level 1 and then home row and your child will be ready to go! Happy Keyboarding! Dance Mat Typing

Week of October 7 - 11
First Grade
1st Graders will be listening to the story, Harry the Dirty Dog by Gene Zion, read by Betty White this week. The Screen Actors Guild (SAG) has a website in which a variety of actors read stories aloud. I hope the students will enjoy it as much as I did!

Welcome to Library Days with Mrs. Hayes!
This first month of school has flown by so quickly. If you checked out my profile, you will see I am new to the library this year. I have worked for the past 12 years as an English/Language Arts teacher at Lakeview Jr. High and made the move this year to Elizabeth Ide. I have loved getting to know all of the students thus far and seeing how much they love to read.
I plan to use this blog as a way to communicate with parents and the community about the curriculum in the library as well as links to great books and/or activities you can use with your son or daughter. Please contact me if you have any questions or would like to volunteer your time in the IMC.
If you are here at Ide, please stop by and say, "hi" and introduce yourself to me and my aide Mrs. Meek.
